"Netanyahu mistake will crush the right"

Moshe Klughaft warns that the prime minister's campaign against Ofer Winter could cost him the 2026 election: He's not just sawing the branch he's sitting on, he'll bring down the whole tree on himself

Strategic Adviser: Netanyahu's Biggest Mistake will Crush the Right-Wing Bloc

Strategic adviser Moshe Klughaft has published a sharp political analysis warning of what he calls Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's most serious strategic error in the current election cycle.

Klughaft reviews key turning points in Netanyahu's career to make his case. "In the 2001 election, Netanyahu gave up his run for prime minister. Sharon won easily, and Netanyahu lost eight years before returning to power," he writes. "In 2019, he brought down the New Right party, entered a political spiral, and lost power after two years."

According to Klughaft, Netanyahu's current moves against Res. Brigadier General Ofer Winter could carry a heavy political price. "The 2026 election could be the biggest mistake of all, with this disgusting campaign against Ofer Winter," he warns. "Netanyahu isn't just sawing the branch he's sitting on, he'll bring down the whole tree on himself."

The analysis comes as Netanyahu's Likud has ramped up attacks on Winter, who is seen as a potential challenger from within the right-wing camp. Klughaft's warning suggests the strategy could backfire, fracturing the right-wing bloc that has kept Netanyahu in power.
