Syria fears Netanyahu may order military operations ahead of Israeli elections
Damascus is concerned that Prime Minister Netanyahu could launch military operations inside Syria to boost his election campaign, a well-informed source told Kan News. "The elections appear to be decisive, and Netanyahu may carry out an extraordinary operation in Syria," the source said. The concern follows Netanyahu's recent revelation of a tense phone call with Syrian President al-Sharaa last summer regarding the Druze massacre in southern Syria. A Syrian official rejected Netanyahu's attempt to involve Syria's Druze community in Israel's campaign. Damascus is monitoring the Israeli election closely, hoping for a policy shift afterward while fearing pre-election actions.
