Tehran accuses U.S. and Israel of grave international law violations, vows military response

Speaking before the UN Security Council, Iranian Ambassador Saeed Iravani condemned the U.S.-led strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it a “dark day” in American political history. “America is a war-thirsty nation,” Iravani declared. “Under international law, Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself. The scale and nature of our response will be determined by our armed forces.” He described the attacks as a tragedy inflicted on a peace-seeking, founding UN member state, and warned that the memory of this aggression would not fade from history.
