A major corruption scandal has severely compromised a high profile homicide investigation in Jerusalem, leading to the urgent intervention of the Police Internal Affairs Department. Investigators interrogated an active duty traffic police officer under caution following heavy suspicions that she used her official position to sabotage the murder probe of the late Benahu Razi. The internal development has raised deep concerns within the law enforcement apparatus, as a trusted officer allegedly chose family loyalty over her oath to uphold justice.
The victim, nineteen year old Benahu Razi from Givat Zeev, was stabbed to death during a violent brawl inside a short term Airbnb vacation rental located on Shirizli Street in Jerusalem's Nachlaot neighborhood. Razi had been staying at the rental property with a friend and several young women when, under circumstances that remain unclear, one of the women allegedly called an acquaintance who then arrived at the apartment with several friends, triggering the lethal confrontation. Ten months prior to his death, Razi had filed an official complaint with the police warning that an ex girlfriend connected to the case was harassing him and that men had actively threatened to kill him.
The criminal interference reportedly began immediately after the violent incident that resulted in the tragic death of Razi. Internal affairs investigators discovered that the officer, who shares a close family relationship with one of the primary female suspects, held an unrecorded emergency meeting with two female suspects before any arrests were made. During this secret meeting, the suspects informed the officer of the full details surrounding the fatal assault.
Instead of executing her sworn legal duties by immediately alerting homicide detectives, the officer took active steps to protect her relatives from criminal prosecution. Investigators suspect that she executed a series of deliberate actions to compromise the integrity of the investigation, hiding critical details from the tracking units. In a case where every single minute and piece of information is vital to securing justice, her deliberate silence and obstruction created an active threat to the state prosecution.
Following a prolonged and intense interrogation session at the internal affairs headquarters in Jerusalem, authorities released the officer under severe restrictive conditions. The state has placed her under full house arrest for 3 days, banned her from all police activities for 8 days, and enforced a total communications blackout prohibiting any contact with individuals involved in the murder case. The internal affairs division emphasized that the investigation into her actions remains ongoing while homicide detectives scramble to salvage the damaged murder case.
