Following President Trump's announcement of intensified economic pressure, U.S. Central Command releases figures on maritime enforcement operations targeting Tehran

One day after President Donald Trump announced a dramatic escalation of economic pressure against Iran, the U.S. military's Central Command (CENTCOM) released new figures Thursday evening detailing the scope of naval enforcement operations against Tehran.

According to the data, American military forces have diverted 67 commercial vessels en route to Iranian ports since the blockade began through August 20. In addition, U.S. forces disabled three ships and seized control of two others to enforce the maritime restrictions.

Trump's overnight announcement declared what he called "the toughest economic operation ever undertaken against any nation." In a statement posted on Truth Social, the president outlined his intention to apply sweeping economic pressure on the Iranian regime following recent military operations, aiming to deepen Tehran's isolation and compel agreement on a new nuclear arrangement.

"Today I am announcing the toughest economic operation ever undertaken against any nation! This will be economic warfare and isolation on an unprecedented scale," Trump declared. He warned that countries and entities assisting Tehran in circumventing American pressure could face consequences themselves. According to the president, financial institutions, companies, airports, and government bodies providing economic assistance to Iran can expect to face U.S. measures.
