U.S. Urges China to Dissuade Iran from Closing Strait of Hormuz

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is calling on China to pressure Iran not to shut down the Strait of Hormuz following America’s recent airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Speaking on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Rubio responded to reports from Iran’s Press TV that the Iranian parliament has approved closing the strategic waterway, which carries roughly 20% of the world’s oil and gas. Rubio warned that such a move would represent a major escalation and “warrant a severe response from the U.S. and other nations.”
