UAE investigation: Fly Dubai co-pilot planned suicide attack on Ben Gurion Airport terminal

The United Arab Emirates released findings from an official investigation revealing that a Fly Dubai co-pilot planned to hijack the aircraft and crash it into the terminal building at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, inspired by the September 11 attacks. The co-pilot, an Omani citizen, showed signs of radicalization dating back to 2017 during his studies in Australia, but passed all professional and security screenings with no extremist indicators detected. During the flight, he attacked the aircraft captain with an emergency axe. The captain of the return flight, who was near the cockpit, noticed the door opening and closing unusually, became suspicious, and with help from cabin crew and passengers, rescued the wounded captain and subdued the attacker.
