IDF Deploys Five Battalions and Three Brigades in Massive West Bank Raid Near Jordan Border

The Israeli Defense Forces launched “Operation Iron Wall,” a large-scale raid across the northern West Bank focused on disrupting armed groups near the Jordan border. The operation involved five battalions supported by Shin Bet and Border Police, targeting key hotspots including Balata in Nablus, Mithlon, Qalqilya, Salfit, and Jayus. Hundreds of buildings were searched, seven suspects were apprehended in Balata alone, and numerous weapons caches were uncovered. Elite Sayeret Nahal units detained militants linked to Hamas and GAPF, including bomb-makers and those involved in prior attacks on Israeli forces. The operation’s strategic timing reflects concern over security risks posed by armed groups near critical central highway corridors connecting to Jordan.
