Bloomberg: Gulf States Stunned by Israeli Strike on Iran, Now Eye Regime Collapse
According to a Bloomberg report, Gulf Arab states were shocked by Israel’s airstrike campaign against Iran last week—particularly because it occurred before the conclusion of ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear talks. The report states that Gulf leaders are now seriously considering the possibility that Iran’s regime could collapse under the weight of sustained Israeli military pressure. Just two days before the strikes began, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan reportedly warned his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, during a meeting in Oslo that Israel was preparing for a major operation. For months, Riyadh has urged Tehran to finalize a nuclear agreement with Washington, including during a visit to Tehran in April by Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman.
