Tense Call Between Israeli and U.S. Officials Over Fordow Strike Timing
Israeli officials have told the Trump administration they are unwilling to wait two weeks for Iran to potentially secure a partial nuclear deal, and that Israel may act alone before Trump’s deadline expires. Two sources familiar with the conversation described it as “tense.” Participants included Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Katz, and IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi. Israel reportedly stressed that time is running out to strike Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility — the core of its program. A Washington source confirmed Israel believes Trump’s two-week window is too long and that more immediate action is needed. During the call, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance intervened, cautioning that the United States should not be drawn directly into a military conflict and subtly suggested Israel could escalate matters unnecessarily. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was also present for the conversation.
