U.S. and Gulf states call for disarming non-state armed groups in Lebanon and Gaza
A joint statement following Secretary of State Marco Rubio's meeting with Gulf foreign ministers calls for disarming non-state armed organizations in both Lebanon and Gaza. The statement declares that full Lebanese sovereignty cannot be realized until such groups disarm, and emphasizes that Gaza reconstruction depends on disarming non-state armed groups there. The statement also addresses Iran, welcoming a U.S.-Iran memorandum while conditioning all trade and investment on compliance, demanding Iran address its ballistic missiles and proxy support, and insisting on free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. On Gaza, the statement says no one will be forced to leave and those who left may return whenever they wish.
