The IDF has officially confirmed the elimination of Ahmad Batash, commander of the Jabaliya Battalion within Hamas's Northern Gaza Brigade. Batash was killed overnight Monday into Tuesday in an IDF strike in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to the IDF, Batash was responsible for managing and organizing combat resources for Hamas's Northern Gaza Brigade. He coordinated and advanced the supply of weapons and military equipment to the terrorist organization's operatives. The military stated that "in recent times, the terrorist advanced terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians and worked to restore the organization's capabilities, while systematically violating the ceasefire."

"The terrorist was eliminated in order to remove the threat he posed," the IDF clarified. The military emphasized that "before and during the strike, steps were taken to minimize harm to civilians as much as possible, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance."

An IDF spokesperson stated that "security forces are deployed throughout the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to act to remove any threat."
