US Gave Houthis Green Light on Saudi Strikes

American officials met covertly with Yemeni terror group leaders in Oman, reaching understandings that attacks may continue against the Saudis as long as international shipping lanes remain untouched

Donald Trump

American media reports reveal that the United States recently held secret meetings and talks with senior Houthi rebel leaders, in an effort to ensure that fighting in the region does not negatively impact international shipping or the American market. The Americans did not demand a halt to attacks on Saudi Arabia.

According to information provided by senior sources close to the White House, meetings between the sides took place over the weekend in neighboring Oman. Senior officials in the Houthi terror organization made clear to the Americans that they have no intention of harming American or other vessels, but rather that they intend "only to continue the blockade on Saudi Arabia."

According to the reports, the Trump administration accepted the Saudi position, and did not protest the continuation of attacks on Saudi Arabia as long as this does not spill over into nearby shipping routes.

The Houthis for their part "expressed commitment" to the understandings reached with the United States after weeks of fighting between the sides at the beginning of the term, and clarified that their goal is to fight the Saudis and not other forces in the region.
