Lebanon's President Signals Hope for Full Peace Deal with Israel

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun struck a notably optimistic tone in recent conversations with international journalists, signaling that his country's negotiations with Israel aim far beyond a simple ceasefire arrangement.

Speaking to reporters, Aoun articulated a vision of comprehensive peace between the two nations, marking a significant departure from the limited goals typically associated with Lebanon-Israel talks.

"Lebanon wants to reach understandings, and an agreement, with Israel. We are interested in reaching understandings that will pave the way for peace," Aoun explained.

The Lebanese president also outlined his government's commitment to meeting the conditions of negotiations with Israel. He emphasized that Lebanon's government is genuinely committed to bringing all weapons in the country under official state control, dismantling Hezbollah's military infrastructure, and working to establish a new international force to maintain the demilitarization of southern Lebanon.
