With vote counting complete and coalition negotiations underway, former minister Yoaz Hendel, chairman of the Reservists party that failed to cross the electoral threshold, has issued a sharp warning to the leaders of the opposition bloc. In a post published Sunday on his X account, Hendel attacked reports of coordination and negotiations between the opposition bloc and the chareidi and Arab factions, calling for adherence to Zionist principles and equality in national service.
"People asked me long before the elections, why do we even need a third bloc?" Hendel opened. "It was clear why we're not part of a bloc that sees anti-Zionist chareidi parties as 'natural partners.' And then they asked, what's the difference between what we're proposing and what Bennett, Liberman or Eisenkot are proposing?"
"Everything except negotiate for a Zionist government"
Hendel directed sharp criticism at opposition leaders following reports of various coalition contacts in recent days.
"Now I'm hearing reports that in Eisenkot's bloc they're negotiating with the chareidi parties, negotiating with the Arab parties, everything except negotiate for a Zionist government," Hendel charged. "We're a short time after the elections and it seems they've forgotten: the draft law, the shortage of soldiers, the lack of governance. I suggest the leaders of the change bloc keep their commitments to the voter, form a Zionist government and pass a draft law without compromises."
