During an interview on Channel 13 with Omri Assenheim, veteran Israeli journalist and broadcaster Rina Matzliah was asked when she last communicated with Amit Segal, another prominent Israeli media figure. Her response was direct: "I don't speak to Amit Segal." When pressed to explain why, Matzliah outlined what she sees as a fundamental divide in their professional philosophies. "We are two different kinds of journalists. We don't have much in common," she said. "I came to media as a public servant, like a tax official who needs to do her job, and he came to promote his ideology. We are different."

The comments echo previous statements Matzliah has made about her own political leanings. Some time ago, she publicly disclosed which political camp she identifies with during her program on Kan (the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation's Channel 2). The revelation came after Yair Golan, a former general and opposition politician, refused to condemn the firing of flares at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence.
At the time, she stated: "I will fight to my last drop of blood for Israeli democracy. I oppose this verbal violence now as well, even when it comes from the camp I identify with more. I think anyone who is an honest person needs to know how to condemn violence from whatever side it comes."
Addressing Golan directly, she said: "Don't play innocent. I want there to be no violence, so that this violence will be more effective. What they did hurt the protest and didn't strengthen it. Say that. Without 'but.' Calling the prime minister a traitor and displaying his picture is something we don't want. I don't want a protest like that from any side."
