Taylor Swift Visits Israeli's NYC Restaurant

Nadav Greenberg recounts the evening the global pop star dined at his establishment, with NYPD closing the street and 500 fans waiting outside

Nadav Greenberg, an Israeli restaurateur operating in New York City, recently shared his firsthand experience of what it means to host the world's biggest pop star. Speaking on the podcast "Lashevet Lakachat," Greenberg described the extraordinary scene when Taylor Swift arrived at his restaurant for dinner.

The security measures were immediately apparent. "The paparazzi were already stationed outside. The NYPD closed down the street, with officers positioned there," Greenberg recounted. Once inside, Swift was treated like any other patron, but with strict rules enforced by her security team. "She sits like all the customers, no one is allowed to disturb her or take photos. If someone approaches to photograph her or if someone at a nearby table raises their phone, they'll be arrested," he explained.

Despite the intense security protocols, Greenberg's interaction with the superstar remained professional and brief during the meal itself. "I went up to them and said 'hello, how are you, thank you for coming.' And that was it," he noted.

However, the most memorable moment came as Swift was leaving the restaurant. "When they left, I came to say goodbye, shook his hand," referring to her companion," and she was on the other side with three bodyguards. She simply made her way around to come give me a hug and tell me how much she enjoyed it," Greenberg recalled.

He emphasized how significant even this simple gesture was given the circumstances. "That move was complicated for her, she could have easily just left." When asked about the gratuity she left, Greenberg maintained discretion: "I don't know how much tip she leaves."

Greenberg, who has hosted numerous celebrities at his restaurant over the years, was unequivocal in his assessment of Swift's unique status. "There isn't another person in the world who comes close to a tenth of what Taylor Swift can do," he stated. "I've had athletes, I've had families—in terms of what she does in the world."

His description of the scene outside the restaurant underscored the phenomenon. "There were about 500 people outside. The amount of camera flashes when she left was just, I don't understand how she doesn't have epilepsy after something like that. It's insane," he concluded.

Greenberg's account offers a glimpse into the human dimension behind Swift's global celebrity. While the pop star is reportedly planning a major wedding in New York and Israeli fans have formed tribute bands in her honor, this simple restaurant visit serves as a reminder that behind the elaborate production and security apparatus is someone who knows how to appreciate a small gesture—and return it with a hug.
