Hamas Massacres Gaza Aid Workers, GHF Says

At least 10 humanitarian workers were killed after Hamas attacked a bus near Khan Yunis. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is calling it a “deliberate massacre” and demanding global condemnation.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has accused Hamas of carrying out a brutal massacre of aid workers in the southern Gaza Strip. According to a statement issued early Thursday, Hamas fighters attacked a bus transporting more than two dozen Palestinian employees of the American-based foundation, killing at least 10 and wounding several others. Some workers may have been abducted, the group said.

The attack reportedly occurred late Wednesday night as the bus was headed toward a food distribution center in Khan Yunis. Initially, GHF confirmed five deaths. A Gaza-based source later told i24NEWS that the death toll had risen to 10.

“We condemn this heinous and deliberate attack in the strongest possible terms,” said the GHF, which operates with Israeli approval and is registered in Switzerland.

The slain workers, all Palestinians, were described by the group as “humanitarians, fathers, brothers, sons, and friends” who were risking their lives daily to deliver food and aid to the people of Gaza.

The incident has also sparked internal backlash against Hamas. Ghassan Duhine, deputy leader of the Popular Forces militia led by Yasser Abu Shabab, accused Hamas of targeting innocent civilians and attempting to frame the victims as rival combatants. “Those who were killed by terrorist Hamas are innocent aid workers,” he said. “We will not forgive these crimes and we will seek retribution.”

The GHF said Hamas had “openly threatened” its staff and civilians seeking aid in recent days, while blaming the international community for remaining silent. “Tonight, the world must see this for what it is: an attack on humanity,” the group said. “We call on the global community to immediately condemn Hamas for this unprovoked attack and continued threat against our people simply trying to feed the Palestinian people.”

Despite the deadly overnight attack in which Hamas reportedly killed and possibly abducted several Palestinian aid workers employed by the American-based Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), aid distribution centers were reopened in the past few hours and successfully delivered food to thousands.

According to a statement by GHF, three distribution sites were reopened — two in Rafah and one near the Netzarim Corridor. More than 45,000 food boxes were delivered, amounting to over two million individual meals.

“We are still gathering information about the deadly assault on our dedicated local staff,” the organization said. “At this stage, we can confirm eight fatalities, and we fear that some team members may have been taken hostage. We considered shutting down our sites today due to security threats — but ultimately decided that the best response to Hamas’s cowardly killers is to continue feeding the people of Gaza who rely on us.”
