Kelley Mack, Star of "The Walking Dead," Dies at 33

The actress, known for roles in The Walking Dead, Chicago Med, and 9-1-1, passed away after a battle with cancer.

Hollywood is mourning the loss of actress Kelley Mack, best known for her role as Addy in Season 9 of The Walking Dead. Mack passed away on August 2 at the age of 33 in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, following a battle with glioma, a rare type of cancer which had spread to her central nervous system.

Her family confirmed the news in a heartfelt statement released late Tuesday night:

“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Kelley. A bright and burning light has moved on to the next world, where we all eventually must go. She will be missed by so many in ways words cannot fully express.”

Rising Star with a Lasting Legacy

Mack’s career began in childhood, sparked by her first video camera and an early interest in performing. She soon moved into commercial work, followed by recurring appearances on television.

Her breakout role came in The Walking Dead, where she portrayed Addy, a member of the survivor group known as the Highwaymen. She later appeared as Penelope Jacobs in Chicago Med (2022) and also had a role in 9-1-1 (2019). Beyond acting, Mack was also a screenwriter and collaborated with her mother on several scripts.

Actor Gustavo Gomez, who co-starred with Mack in The Walking Dead as Marco, paid tribute to her:

“It’s heartbreaking. I feel incredibly lucky that our paths crossed. Your bright light will always shine.”

The actress leaves her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow; sister Kathryn and brother Parker; grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow; and her “dearest boyfriend” Logan Lanier.

“Kelley’s legacy will live on through her contributions to film and television, and in the hearts of those who loved her,” said the family's statement. “She will be deeply missed by forever remembered for her talent, kindness and vibrant spirit.”
