Disney unveiled initial details about "Frozen 3" at its annual event over the weekend, setting a theatrical release date of November 24, 2027. The date continues the franchise tradition of opening around the American Thanksgiving holiday, following the pattern established by the first two films.
The story will once again unfold in the fictional kingdom of Arendelle, with the original voice cast returning: Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, and Josh Gad as Olaf. While the full storyline remains under wraps, Disney has disclosed that Anna and Kristoff will marry, a new villain will emerge, and Olaf will have a new love interest named Samantha.
Disney released initial concept art by Brittany Lee in August 2024, showing Elsa riding a white horse alongside Anna on a brown reindeer. Bell confirmed in October 2025 that production had begun, though she noted she had not yet heard the film's songs. The actress also denied reports claiming she would receive $60 million for reprising her role, though she declined to reveal the actual figure.
Meanwhile, former Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that a fourth installment in the series is already in development. The original 2013 film became a massive hit, earning $1.3 billion worldwide and winning two Academy Awards. The 2019 sequel surpassed its predecessor, grossing $1.45 billion globally.
