Israeli singer-songwriter Hanan Ben Ari has released “Achi” (“My Brother”), a deeply personal and moving single dedicated to his older brother Amichai, who currently serves as a reserve soldier. The track, filled with love, fear, and hope, is the second release from Ben Ari’s upcoming album, scheduled for January 2026.
Just last month, Ben Ari unveiled the first single “Gal Einai” and promised to release one song per month until the full album launch on January 1. Today’s release, “Achi”, carries with it a story rooted in both personal anxiety and national resonance.
The Message That Sparked the Song
On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, moments before the holiday began, Ben Ari received a chilling WhatsApp message from his brother Amichai:
“Achi, they’re about to take our phones. If something happens to me, I’m asking you to forward this voice message to my wife and daughters. I love you.”
Ben Ari recalled the moment with raw honesty:
“It terrified me. I tried to call him, but the line was already disconnected. Every prayer throughout the holiday was for him and for his friends who had entered Lebanon.”
From that message, the chorus of “Achi” was born. But superstition and fear kept Ben Ari from finishing the song until Amichai returned home safely.
