It's not going to be the same without him

Idan Amedi is leaving hit Netflix show Fauda – Here's why

Actor and platinum-selling singer Idan Amedi, who brought intensity to the role of undercover operative Sagi Tzur for four gripping seasons, is leaving Fauda to focus on his rehabilitation.

The gritty world of Fauda is losing one of its most compelling stars, as Idan Amedi steps away from the internationally acclaimed series following severe injuries sustained while serving in Gaza. The actor, who brought depth and intensity to the role of undercover agent Sagi Tzur, was critically wounded during a tunnel demolition operation that tragically claimed the lives of six fellow soldiers from his unit.

The news hits particularly hard for fans of both Fauda and Amedi's music, as the 36-year-old performer has been a beloved figure in Israeli entertainment for over a decade. His portrayal of Sagi Tzur, a complex operative in the show's elite Mista'arvim unit, helped cement 'Fauda's reputation as one of Netflix's most gripping international thrillers.

"The rehabilitation process will be lengthy," a spokesperson for the production confirmed, though declined to comment on how the series will address the departure of Amedi's character, whose tense dynamic with Lior Raz's Doron became a cornerstone of the show's dramatic appeal.

Before donning Sagi's tactical gear, Amedi had already captured hearts across Israel with his soulful voice and poignant songwriting. His journey from *Kochav Nolad* contestant to platinum-selling artist with six studio albums showcased his remarkable versatility as a performer. His latest album "Superman," released just months ago, took on new meaning after his injury in January while serving as a reservist in the IDF's combat engineering corps.

The timing is particularly poignant as Fauda, which has earned international acclaim for its raw portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, marks its 10th anniversary. The series, streaming on Netflix, has been praised for its unflinching look at the human cost of conflict - a reality that has now touched one of its own stars.

After treatment at Sheba Tel Hashomer Medical Center, Amedi plans to return to his music career, where his songs like "Pain of Warriors" and "Finished" - both former Songs of the Year - continue to resonate deeply with audiences.
