Singer and songwriter Muki released "Mitga'gea" (Missing You) on Tuesday, the first single from a forthcoming album created in collaboration with Idan Raichel. Muki wrote the lyrics, while Raichel composed the melody and handled the musical arrangement and production for the entire album.
Muki and Raichel release "Mitga'gea"
The singer's first single from a new album produced by Raichel was written during three years marked by his mother's passing and the war, and speaks of longing for someone who is gone
From turbulent years in his life
"Mitga'gea" is a personal song about loss and longing for a close person who is no longer here, and the attempt to continue living when memories are present almost everywhere. Muki sings about the void that remains and the moments when life moves forward while the heart stays behind.
The new album was created over three significant and turbulent years in Muki's life. On a personal level, he dealt with the death of his mother, and simultaneously with the events of October 7 and the war that followed. These experiences became part of his new work, which addresses loss, questions, and the search for meaning.
"There is longing that stays with us"
About the new song, Muki said: "There is longing that stays with us and doesn't disappear, longing that you learn to live with. 'Mitga'gea' is a very personal song but I think that within the private story there is a place where everyone can find themselves. Everyone has someone they miss."
"Mitga'gea" also marks the beginning of a new musical chapter for Muki, with the connection to Idan Raichel, who accompanies the new album musically and is responsible for the melodies, arrangements and production.
