Initial reports indicate explosions at King Khalid International Airport near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, according to Open Source Intel, a Middle East monitoring account. Local sources reported ballistic missile launches from Sanaa, the Houthis' main stronghold in Yemen, prior to the blasts. Air traffic was reportedly disrupted.
The Iran-backed Houthis have launched repeated attacks on Israeli territory throughout the current regional conflict. The group recently struck targets in Riyadh and a Saudi oil facility in what Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarie described as retaliation for Saudi aggression, warning that "any escalation with escalation." Saudi-backed forces are currently advancing along Yemen's Red Sea coast in a renewed offensive against the militia.
