Minister Gideon Saar congratulated the Supreme Court's decision today (Wednesday) to permit public Yom Kippur prayers in a Tel Aviv public space, including a separator for men and women, striking down the city's effort to ban such prayer.

In his statement, posted on X, Saar said "the Supreme Court acted justly when it reversed the inconceivable decision of the city of Tel Aviv to prevent Jewish prayer in public spaces according to Jewish tradition on Yom Kippur. To insist on something so simple and important in the only Jewish state in the world in the face of the arbitrariness of a government body is not just the right judicial decision. It is in my view an act of sanctifying God's name."

Shas leader Aryeh Deri called the decision the victory of "justice and sanity" and erases the "disgrace" of the desecration of Yom Kippur prayers last year, which symbolized the rift and division within the nation, and I entirely hope that it will bring unity and reconciliation between all parts of the nation."
