The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson dismissed the British decision to suspend free trade negotiations with Israel today (Tuesday), saying that those negotiations were already "frozen" as the current Labour government had done nothing to advance them since they entered into office.

In an interview with Army Radio, Oren Marmorstein, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that: "This certainly doesn't add a song to our hearts, but the British have frozen something that is already frozen - the trade agreement has been in deep freeze by the current British government since the beginning of its term."

He reportedly added: "What we need to do as the Foreign Ministry is of course to communicate with the world, but first do something that is good for Israel and represent it even when it's not pleasant. We need to come and say 'friends, aid that reaches Hamas is not humanitarian, stopping the war while Hamas is in power is like setting a clock and waiting for the next war.' Even if a certain number of countries tell us we're wrong and we know we're right - the policy will not change. Our relationship with various countries is significant, we try to explain this and it's difficult, but that doesn't make it any less right."
