Arab Boy Puts Out Chanukia in Ramla | WATCH

Security camera footage captured a young boy riding a scooter on Friday night before he stops to put out the chanukia in the entrance of a Jewish home in Ramla. The incident follows a similar incident in a mall last week.

Israelis ride their bicycles past a lit up 'chanukia' displayed on the Tel Aviv municipality building in Tel Aviv on December 8, 2015. Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple. The festival is observed by the kindling of the lights of a 'hanuckia'- a nine-branched candelabrum, with one additional light being lit on each night of the holiday.

On Friday night in the Amishav neighborhood of Ramla, an Arab child was caught on camera riding a scooter into the courtyard entrance of a Jewish family and extinguishing a Star of David-shaped chanukia that had been lit earlier that evening.

The incident was documented by a security camera installed at the home. Footage shows the child approaching the chanukia, stopping briefly, and deliberately putting out the flames before leaving the area on his scooter.

Residents described the act as a disturbing example of the tense atmosphere in mixed cities, particularly amid a sharp rise in antisemitic incidents since October 7. While no physical damage was caused and no one was injured, the incident joins the similar event at a mall in Tel Aviv as signalling a dangerous shift among Israeli Arabs.

Local sources said the incident was reported, and community leaders stressed the need for swift educational and parental intervention to prevent further escalation.
