UPDATE: The worker was trapped under the rubble of the construction site after concrete pillars collapsed on him. He was found in a semi-conscious state, in serious condition. His injured leg was trapped under the debris, and specialist doctors were called to the scene.

Following a consultation between MDA paramedic Omri Gorge, who was performing medical procedures on-site, and MDA Deputy Medical Director Dr. Rafael Strugo, Dr. Klein, head of the surgical unit at Sheba Medical Center, was asked to perform complex surgical procedures required to extricate the injured worker.

Dr. Klein was rushed to the scene in a special MDA ambulance, with assistance from Israel Police, who cleared the roads for the doctor's arrival. The doctors were forced to amputate the worker’s leg, enabling his evacuation. After the rescue, he was transferred in serious condition to Tel Hashomer Hospital.

MDA paramedic Omri Gorge recounted: “We received a report of concrete pillars collapsing at a construction site, causing a vehicle to slide into the site. From above, we saw a man, approximately 40 years old, semi-conscious and suffering from severe injuries. Construction workers led us to the worker, who was trapped under the dirt. He had injuries to his body, and his leg was trapped in a way that made it impossible to free without intervention.

While firefighters and Home Front Command personnel carried out rescue operations, we conducted a consultation with MDA teams providing initial medical treatment on-site, along with MDA Deputy Medical Director Dr. Rafael Strugo, who also arrived at the scene.

We decided to send a special medical team from Sheba-Tel Hashomer Hospital, which was brought to the scene via an MDA ambulance with the assistance of Israel Police, who cleared the route. The surgical doctors performed complex procedures, including administering blood transfusions and an emergency surgery on-site to extricate the injured worker and enable his evacuation in an MDA intensive care ambulance to the hospital, where his condition remains serious.”
