Israeli analyst: Gaza aid isn’t weakness—It’s the key to winning

Many Israelis are up in arms at the breaking of the blockade of the Gaza Strip. Rightwing political analyst Tamir Morag explains why they're wrong.

Rightwing political analyst and reporter Tamir Morag hit back today (Monday) against those arguing that allowing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip would amount to surrender to Hamas, saying that it is indeed necessary to win.

In a post he published on X, Morag said that:

"The blood boils over the renewal of aid to Gaza while around twenty hostages are rotting in the tunnels, but wars must be led with the head – not the gut.

"So let’s set the record straight: Within a few days, Gaza would have completely run out of food. Within about two weeks, images of starving children would flood the world. Within a month, tens and even hundreds of thousands of Gazans would begin dying en masse. The war would be halted, the hostages would remain in the tunnels, and Hamas would win.

"Today, nine trucks entered the Strip, mostly carrying baby food. Over the next week, between 30 and 40 trucks will enter daily, compared to about 600 per day during the ceasefire. That’s less than 10%, just enough to keep the Gazan population above the threshold of malnutrition.

"Within about a week to ten days, a U.S.-run aid distribution mechanism will begin operating, one that will hardly allow any aid to reach Hamas. Until then, professionals estimate that up to 20% of the aid might leak – that means 6 to 8 trucks a day – far from enough to give Hamas control over the population or supplies to sustain itself long-term.

"The goal was and remains complete victory. It is a difficult goal, but an achievable one – and difficult goals require tough compromises, reason, and patience. Populism gets ratings. Endurance wins wars."
