Woman Found Dead Days After Passing

Tragedy in Geula neighborhood as family member discovers woman's body after the holiday; she had spoken with relatives on the eve of the festival

A tragic discovery unfolded late Sunday night in an apartment on Ezer Yoldot Street in Jerusalem, when a 40-year-old woman was found deceased — more than a full day after her passing. A family member who came to the apartment after the holiday ended made the heartbreaking discovery.

The call came in to the ZAKA 1220 hotline around 11:00 PM reporting the woman found in her home. ZAKA volunteers from the Jerusalem district were dispatched to the scene.

According to reports, the woman had been in contact with family members on the eve of the holiday. Only when the holiday ended and a relative arrived at the apartment was the tragic discovery made.

Rabbi Bentzi Oiring, commander of ZAKA's Jerusalem district, coordinated with police officers to arrange the necessary procedures. Thanks to the swift action, the deceased was released for burial directly from the scene, and a ZAKA ambulance transported her to the Shamgar funeral home.

Rabbi Oiring and Rabbi Meir Aker, deputy commander of ZAKA's Jerusalem district, who handled the scene, stated: "This is a woman around 40 years old who was found in her home more than a day after her death. Her family member who came to the apartment after the holiday ended discovered her without signs of life."

"ZAKA volunteers from the Jerusalem district handled the scene with respect for the deceased and collection of evidence. After the work at the scene, the deceased was released for burial, and ZAKA volunteers assisted in transferring her to the Shamgar funeral home."
