More Aid Centers
Gaza’s New Lifeline: Israel's Humanitarian Push to Feed Gaza
Israel is establishing two additional humanitarian aid centers in southern Gaza, increasing the total to five, to enhance food distribution while preventing Hamas from diverting resources.

In a significant step to enhance humanitarian aid delivery in the Gaza Strip, Israel is set to complete the construction of two new food and aid distribution centers in southern Gaza within days, bringing the total to five. The initiative, directed by Israel’s political leadership in coordination with the U.S. administration, aims to support Gaza’s 2.3 million residents while preventing aid diversion to Hamas.
The new centers will replace the existing distribution hub in the Tel al-Sultan neighbourhood, improving efficiency and safety. Since late May 2025, over 2.3 million weekly food packages have been distributed to families through the four current centers, managed by U.S. civilian organizations under the supervision of the IDF Southern Command and COGAT (Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories).
The IDF emphasized its commitment to orderly aid distribution, stating, “The IDF, through COGAT and in accordance with the directives of the political echelon, will continue to enable humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip, while taking every necessary effort to ensure the orderly distribution of food to the residents of the Gaza Strip and to prevent the humanitarian aid from reaching the Hamas terrorist organization.”
The expansion addresses Gaza’s dire humanitarian crisis, with a disputed number of 1.9 million people facing potential food insecurity, per UN 2025 reports, amid ongoing conflict with Hamas, which has controlled Gaza since 2007. The new centers are part of broader efforts to prepare for population returns to southern Gaza, ensuring access to essentials like food, water, and medical supplies. Since October 2023, Israel has facilitated 1.2 million tons of aid entering Gaza, though challenges persist due to Hamas’s reported looting of convoys. The U.S.-backed initiative reflects a collaborative approach to stabilize the region while countering Hamas’s influence, with Israel maintaining strict oversight to ensure aid reaches civilians.
