Yom Kippur on the Battlefield
From Shul to the Battlefield - IDF Rabbinate Releases Stunning Yom Kippur Video | WATCH
The IDF Rabbinate published a short video connecting the prayers on Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) to the war on the ground, where every action in the synagogue corresponds to a similar action on the battlefield.

With Yom Kippur just around the corner, the IDF Rabbinate dropped a powerful video that hits right in the heart, showing what this holy day means for Israelis today. Split into two frames, it follows a civilian getting ready for shul, heading to pray and an IDF reservist gearing up, strapping on a uniform and grabbing a rifle to defend the country.
The side-by-side scenes tell a story of unity: one steps into a synagogue, joining others in quiet prayer; the other heads to the front lines, standing strong for Israel. The video wraps with a simple, gut-hitting line: “This year, our shuls will be full, and thousands of IDF reservists will be out there fighting for our land and our people.”
Shared just before the High Holy Days, with tensions flaring in Gaza, the video’s message is clear: faith and duty go hand in hand. It’s blowing up online, with Israelis moved by its tribute to both tradition and sacrifice as Yom Kippur commences tomorrow night October 1. The IDF Rabbinate called on everyone to reflect, saying, “Whether in prayer or on the battlefield, we’re all in this together for Am Yisrael.”
May this be a truly meaningful fast for all of us and may Hashem be with our precious IDF soldiers as they fight for our country and Am Yisrael.
