The Israeli Air Force struck three Hezbollah command centers in the Nabatieh and Maifadoun areas of southern Lebanon Sunday night, the IDF announced Monday, in direct response to the terror group's continued attacks on Israeli forces operating in the security zone.

The IDF stated the strikes came after Hezbollah's "repeated violations" of the ceasefire, targeting IDF troops on the ground. "During the strikes, dozens of Hezbollah terrorists who were operating in those command centers were eliminated," the military said.

In a separate earlier strike, troops of the Multi-Domain Unit targeted and destroyed a Hezbollah rocket launcher that the military said "posed a threat to forces." The IDF released footage of both sets of strikes.

The IDF said in a statement that it "will continue to act to remove any threat to its forces and will not allow the Hezbollah terror organization to harm the citizens of the State of Israel."

The strikes reflect a pattern that has defined the fragile ceasefire since its announcement: Hezbollah has used Israel's continued presence in the buffer zone as a pretext to keep up attacks on IDF troops and northern border communities, while Israel insists it is acting in lawful self-defense against an enemy that refuses to honor the terms of the agreement.

The Israeli security zone in southern Lebanon stretches across the entire length of the shared border, extending up to 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory, in some areas crossing the Litani River and reaching the outskirts of Nabatieh.

The latest exchange comes as Jerusalem and Beirut continue direct talks in Washington, with the US working to establish a monitoring mechanism to firm up the ceasefire. Those diplomatic efforts have so far failed to stop the fighting on the ground, with Hezbollah refusing to disarm and slamming the Lebanese government for negotiating with Israel at all.
