A significant medical incident was recorded on Wednesday at one of Israel's largest military installations, raising concerns about a potential viral outbreak or mass contamination. Close to one hundred male and female soldiers stationed at the School for Human Resources Professions, known as Bahad 11, began exhibiting severe gastrointestinal symptoms, including violent vomiting, diarrhea, intense headaches, and dizziness. The rapid onset of the symptoms across such a large group prompted an immediate and high-level medical response from the military.

The IDF Medical Corps dispatched a specialized team to the southern base to begin an epidemiological investigation. As part of the initial screening process, health officials distributed detailed questionnaires to the affected personnel to determine if the illness is linked to shared meals or a contagious virus. While the exact cause remains under investigation, a security source indicated that the symptoms point toward a severe intestinal ailment that spread quickly through the barracks.

In response to the deteriorating situation, the military decided to evacuate at least two full companies, including their commanding officers, to clinics in the nearby city of Beer Sheva. This move was made to allow for a more comprehensive diagnosis and to assess the severity of the symptoms in a controlled environment. The evacuation also serves to isolate the sick soldiers from the rest of the base population in an attempt to prevent the further spread of what is suspected to be a highly contagious pathogen.

This is not the first time a major IDF installation has faced such a crisis. Late last year, a Border Police base in Ma'ale Michmash was forced to shut down after roughly 100 recruits suffered from severe abdominal pain and suspected food poisoning following a meal. In that instance, several soldiers required hospitalization while others were quarantined for rest. The current incident at Bahad 11 is being treated with similar urgency to ensure the operational readiness of the trainees is not permanently compromised.

The IDF Spokesperson has yet to release a formal statement regarding the specific source of the illness or the current condition of the hospitalized soldiers. However, families of the recruits have been notified of the situation, and additional medical staff have been placed on standby. The military is expected to conduct a thorough review of the base's sanitation and food supply chains once the immediate health crisis is contained and the affected units are cleared for duty.
