Four IDF soldiers were wounded Thursday during operational activity in southern Lebanon after their force encountered a Hezbollah terrorist at close range, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit announced Friday morning.
The incident occurred during a patrol and counterterrorism operation aimed at destroying Hezbollah terror infrastructure near the border. As the force moved through the area, a terrorist opened fire on them at close range. The soldiers returned fire immediately, exchanged shots with the attacker, and neutralized the threat.
One combat officer sustained moderate wounds. A second combat officer and two additional soldiers were lightly wounded.
Medical personnel on the ground administered life-saving first aid at the scene. The wounded soldiers were subsequently evacuated to a hospital in Israel for further treatment. The IDF Spokesperson confirmed that the families of all four soldiers have been notified of the incident and their medical conditions.
The fighting in the northern sector continues, although the IDF soldiers operating there are extremely limited in what action they are allowed to take.
