Weapons Smuggling on Egyptian Border
What the IDF Spokesman is Hiding about Egypt
Doron Kadosh claims IDF only revealed "one-third of the story" after drone intercepted on third smuggling attempt, raising questions about military transparency

Military correspondent Doron Kadosh has accused the IDF Spokesperson's Unit of concealing information from the public regarding weapons smuggling operations along the Egyptian border.
Following the IDF's announcement about intercepting weapons at the Egypt border, Kadosh claimed on Tuesday that there were additional smuggling attempts that the military spokesperson is hiding from the public.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit released a statement boasting about thwarting a drone carrying 20 M-16 rifles. Behind the scenes, Kadosh revealed, the announcement was accompanied by a detailed briefing for military correspondents on numerous successful drone interceptions, without mentioning any failures.
However, testimony from a senior police official painted a different picture. Chief Superintendent Oshri Abuksis, head of intelligence for the Israel Police, told the Knesset: "Just last night in the south, they thwarted one drone that made three passes. They caught it on the third time with 22 M-16 rifles including explosives."
Kadosh highlighted the discrepancy: "The IDF spokesperson told the story, but what emerges from the testimony of the senior police intelligence officer? That the IDF spokesperson told only one-third of the story! The drone made three smuggling passes last night. The IDF didn't tell us about that. Only about the success in thwarting it on the third attempt."
The military reporter expressed frustration with what he views as selective disclosure: "It's unfortunate that the IDF spokesperson continues to conduct aggressive PR for supposed 'operational successes', but tells only one-third of the real picture, while hiding the truth from the Israeli public."
Kadosh concluded with a sharp criticism: "If what the police intelligence chief said is correct, this is simply a real blow to public trust in the IDF. They're hiding truth from the public, literally."
The allegations raise serious questions about military transparency and whether the IDF is providing the Israeli public with complete information about security challenges along the Egyptian border, particularly regarding the scope and frequency of smuggling attempts.
The incident comes amid ongoing concerns about weapons trafficking from Egypt into Israeli territory and the effectiveness of border security measures.
