99% Success Rate
Israel Boasts Near-Perfect Drone Interception Rates in Latest Defense Report
Israel unveils stunning 99% success in drone interceptions and 86% against ballistic missiles during operation "Rising Lion."

Israel's air defense systems achieved unprecedented success during recent conflicts, with over 99% effectiveness in shooting down drones and 86% against ballistic missiles, according to a top defense official.
Moshe Patel, head of the Homa Directorate at Israel's Ministry of Defense, unveiled the striking figures at the UVID 2025 conference, the country's premier event for unmanned systems and air defense. Speaking on a panel about countering missile and drone threats, Patel highlighted the performance during Operation "Rising Lion," a 12-day military campaign where the multi-layered defense network was fully activated at an intense pace for the first time.
"We achieved over 99% success in intercepting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), thanks to the Israeli Air Force's airborne systems and close collaboration with our American partners," Patel said. He noted that more than 1,000 drones were neutralized during the operation alone.
For ballistic missiles, the interception rate exceeded 86%, underscoring the capabilities of systems like the Arrow missile and Iron Dome. Patel emphasized Israel's proactive approach: "We're not just reacting, we're building a system that anticipates threats and establishes defensive superiority." He described the integrated response to various dangers, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, rockets, and drones, as operating at "unprecedented levels of precision and coordination."
The data stems from lessons learned in Operation "Like a Lion," which tested the full spectrum of Israel's defenses and yielded valuable operational insights. Patel attributed the results to seamless connectivity between ground-based systems, aerial assets, and international partnerships in the region.
As drone and UAV threats evolve from peripheral to central elements in modern warfare, Patel warned of ongoing challenges. "We have extensive experience, but the threat is constantly changing," he said. "We must continue to develop, adapt, and stay half a step ahead of the enemy."
The UVID 2025 conference, now in its 13th year, drew thousands of experts and senior officials from over 20 countries, serving as a key hub for advancements in unmanned technologies. Attendees also viewed demonstrations of systems like the Heron Mark 2 UAV.
This revelation comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Iran often cited as a primary source of missile and drone threats. Israel's Ministry of Defense oversees critical programs like the Arrow system and Iron Dome through its Directorate for Defense Research and Development (MAFAT), reinforcing the nation's reputation for cutting-edge military innovation.
No immediate international reactions were reported, but the figures are likely to bolster confidence in Israel's defensive posture while highlighting the growing role of U.S.-Israeli cooperation in countering aerial assaults.
