ON HOLD: Netanyahu Abruptly Nixes Court Testimony Citing "Urgent" Hezbollah Security Crisis

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu abruptly canceled his scheduled court testimony on Monday, citing urgent security consultations regarding repeated Hezbollah ceasefire violations along Israel's northern border, as reported by Walla.

According to a court filing submitted by Netanyahu's defense team, the Prime Minister convened a telephonic security consultation with senior defense officials to address the escalating situation. "Due to the Prime Minister's security schedule, which will be detailed in a sealed envelope submitted to the honorable court and the prosecution representative," the request stated, emphasizing the exceptional nature of the security constraint.

Walla added that the cancellation followed a morning of heightened alert in northern communities. At 7:40 AM, sirens sounded in Arab al-Aramshe, with additional alerts activated in surrounding communities shortly thereafter. Residents reported that the warnings came "exactly when children were being transported to school," creating panic among families in the border region.

IDF spokesperson clarified the nature of the threats: "Following alerts regarding the infiltration of a hostile aircraft in the confrontation line area, contact was lost with a suspicious aerial target launched from Lebanon into Israeli territory. There were no casualties. Alerts regarding rocket and missile fire were activated due to concerns about falling interception debris."

The military added that alerts activated at 8:05 AM regarding hostile aircraft infiltration were determined to be a false identification. However, residents near Moshav Goren reported hearing interception sounds and observing debris from aerial defense operations.

The security deterioration comes amid mounting evidence of Hezbollah's systematic violations of the ceasefire agreement. Recent IDF operations in southern Lebanon have uncovered extensive weapons caches hidden in civilian areas, including RPG rockets and explosives stored in children's bedrooms alongside toys and furniture.

The terrorist organization has also launched multiple drone attacks against Israeli forces operating in the security zone.

In response to the escalating violations, the Home Front Command updated security guidelines on Sunday evening, imposing restrictions of 1,500 participants for gatherings in confrontation line communities. The limitations apply to both indoor and outdoor events in the northern border region, including the communities of Meron, Bar Yochai, Or HaGanuz, and Sapsafa.

Defense officials emphasized that all other guidelines governing educational institutions and economic activity remain unchanged. The updated policy, which took effect immediately, will remain in force until Monday at 8:00 PM, though military sources indicated the restrictions could be extended depending on the security assessment.
