IDF Northern Command: No Evacuation for North Despite Ongoing Rocket Barrages

Senior IDF officials state that while Hezbollah fire continues on border towns, there is no recommendation to evacuate the population. Over 600 targets have been struck in Lebanon this week as Operation Roaring Lion enters its eighth day.

A high-ranking official in the IDF’s Northern Command told *Srugim* that despite heavy Hezbollah fire on conflict-line communities, the IDF does not currently recommend evacuating residents further south.

After two days of relentless fire on northern towns, the Northern Command maintains its stance on civilian presence. The official asserts that Hezbollah is in its most dire state to date, facing a deep and severe disconnect from both the Lebanese government and the general population in Lebanon.

The official highlighted the coordinated strikes by the Air Force, Navy, and ground forces across all sectors:

* The Dahiya District: Daily strikes continue against buildings, outposts, and storage sites.

* Beirut: More than 50 high-rise buildings have been bombed in the capital.

* Weekly Toll: Over the past week, the Northern Command has struck more than 600 targets across Lebanon using over 820 munitions.

* Casualties: More than 190 terrorists have been eliminated.

Among the high-ranking casualties is Abu Hamza Rami, the commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in Lebanon, a rank equivalent to a Major General, along with two colonels and three battalion commanders.

The IDF is currently operating in three main sectors: Beirut/Dahiya, the Beqaa Valley in the east, and Southern Lebanon.

"It’s true," the official stated, "there are launches, and the war will last a long time—we have prepared for this. Hezbollah’s financial situation is extremely difficult; they have no money to pay operatives or for maintenance."

The official noted that while Hezbollah retains short-range firing capabilities near the border, their ability to conduct long-range fire into central Israel has been largely neutralized in recent days, describing the recent fire on Haifa as an "exception."

Radwan Forces and the Border

The IDF has identified attempts by Radwan Force terrorists to move south toward the border and is actively engaging them. Despite this, the Northern Command’s current recommendation remains that there is no need for a mass evacuation of northern residents, as was seen at the beginning of previous conflicts.
