After carrying out a situation assessment, Israel Railways announced today (Tuesday) that starting tomorrow, the services of the train lines to Carmiel station will be resumed in an emergency format.

According to a statement from the municipality of Carmiel, a letter was sent at the beginning of the week to Transportation Minister Miri Regev, requesting the renewal of train services to Carmiel, which is the northernmost station that serves passengers until Metula. This service was suspended, closed with the outbreak of the war, and it remains the only railway station that is closed in Israel.

According to him, the northern residents have suffered a significant impact. On one hand, they are required to maintain a state of emergency and lead their lives in a security-constrained area, and on the other hand, there are citizens who want to travel to the central region and preserve their lives.

Mayor of Carmiel, Moshe Koninski, said: "I welcome the resumption of train services, which prevents further harm to the peripheral residents who are currently dealing with the most challenging situation that the State of Israel has faced."

Israel Railways announced that, "In accordance with the Ministry of Transportation's directives and due to its proximity to the northern border and the importance of its readiness for various entities, the Carmiel station will be open for service starting from tomorrow (Wednesday), and trains on the Carmiel-Haifa line will operate at a frequency of one train per hour in each direction. The Ahihud station will remain closed for service until further notice. We recommend checking travel times and further details on the website, the application, or the telephone service center at *5770."
