King Charles and Queen Camilla Steal the Show at Sandringham Bloom Fest

A Royal Tour of Colour and Community

The King and Queen began their visit in the Committee Tent, before making their way through various exhibits where they engaged warmly with local gardening clubs, nursery owners, charity volunteers, and members of the public. One notable moment came as Queen Camilla greeted supporters of Medical Detection Dogs, a charity for which she serves as Patron.

Tradition, Talent and Local Pride

The show featured contributions from many of East Anglia’s top nurseries and horticultural experts, alongside 200 trade and charity stands, children’s activities, and live music from the Springwood High School band.

At the heart of the event were the Royal marquees, where meticulously grown fruits, vegetables, and floral displays were entered into judged competitions. Local clubs took part in a spirited contest of themed garden displays, while amateur green thumbs showcased their finest efforts in open-entry categories.

The horticultural trades marquee offered visitors a chance to browse vibrant displays from commercial growers, providing both inspiration and shopping opportunities for gardeners of all levels.

Giving Back Through Gardening

Beyond the pageantry and petals, the Sandringham Flower Show also carries a charitable mission. All profits are donated to local causes, with this year’s contributions pushing the total raised since the show’s inception to approximately £825,000.

As tradition and community spirit flourished side by side, the King and Queen’s presence at the flower show served as a reminder of the enduring connection between the Royal Family, the countryside, and the people who nurture it.

Whether it was a moment with a prize-winning sunflower or a handshake with a local gardener, Sandringham once again proved that the power of flowers, and the people who grow them, remains deeply rooted in the national heart.
