Preparing for next round

Iran funds Hezbollah rebuild; Lebanon on edge

Terror group received massive cash infusion in recent months, now focusing on drones and small units • Lebanese opponents fear assassinations and security incidents targeting the government

Hezbollah has received tens of millions of dollars from Iran over the past three months, aimed at renewing its operations and preparing for another round of fighting against Israel. The report comes from Reuters, citing Lebanese sources.

According to the sources, the organization has not yet succeeded in fully rebuilding its force structure or its heavy weapons arsenal. As a result, Hezbollah is now concentrating on increased procurement of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and operating small, flexible units.

In response to the report, Hezbollah stated: "Attacking the Israeli occupation is our legitimate right, and our command structure has not been damaged."

Alongside preparations for confrontation with Israel, Lebanon's security and political establishment is no less troubled by the scenario in which the fire turns inward. A source in the camp opposing Hezbollah told Kan News that there is serious concern the terror group will attempt a move against the central government in Lebanon through assassinations and orchestrated security incidents.

According to the source, the public threats voiced by senior figures in the organization in recent days against the Beirut government, and warnings against harming Hezbollah, indicate preparation for a significant step in the internal Lebanese arena.

The high tension was also fueled by the seizure of a truck loaded with the organization's explosives, which heightened suspicion between the state leadership and Hezbollah. In the wake of this, the Lebanese leadership is conducting feverish security discussions around the possibility that the internal arena will ignite, and opposition parties have already begun increasing security measures around their senior figures.

These developments come against the backdrop of political tension in Israel surrounding policy toward Lebanon, with Defense Minister Israel Katz making clear that Israel will not withdraw from the security zones established in southern Lebanon.

At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed to bring down the regime in Iran, while warning of attempts by Iran and its proxies to advance terror attacks that would influence the election results in Israel.
