Education Minister Yoav Kish confirmed Monday on Radio 103 that Israel will strike Iran in the near future.

"After the midterm elections in the United States, the State of Israel will enter into a confrontation with the US facing Iran, the big question for the state is who will lead it, whether it will be Netanyahu together with Trump or whether there will be a prime minister here who does not have the proof and the international standing," Kish said.

The US midterm elections are scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The minister's remarks come as Channel 12's political correspondent Yaron Avraham reported Sunday night that IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and the prime minister have reached an unprecedented low in their relationship, after the chief of staff refused to carry out a military operation ordered by the prime minister, demanded "legal documentation," and briefed against the government.

According to the reports, a security assessment meeting attended by Netanyahu and the top political-security echelon deteriorated into harsh tones and became bitter and personal, after the prime minister and the political echelon ordered a specific operation to be carried out. The operation, according to the publications, could have led to escalation with Iran.

Chief of Staff Zamir refused to execute the operation and delayed it with demands for in-depth discussions and even demanded "legal documentation" from the political echelon. In the Channel 12 report, a "security source" was quoted as saying that Zamir's role in not executing the operation was critical.
