The community mourns the passing of Shoshana Strook, a woman whose life was defined by an extraordinary spirit of generosity and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Raised in the holy city of Hebron under the spiritual shadow of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs, Shoshana embodied the virtues of her surroundings and her family.

Shoshana grew up during challenging security periods in Hebron, absorbing the resilience and kindness of the nation’s giants. She was the daughter of Rabbi Avraham and Orit Strook, figures well-known for their public service and dedication to the Jewish people. Her father, Avraham, is described as a modern successor to the biblical Abraham, characterized by a "good eye" and a generous spirit, while her mother, Orit, is noted for her tireless devotion to communal needs.

The depth of Shoshana’s compassion was felt personally by many, including the family of Rabbi Ariel Levi. During her national service (Sherut Leumi), Shoshana was assigned to accompany their son, Yehuda Chai, who faced complex challenges.

"Every single day she accompanied him, our hearts were filled with gratitude," Rabbi Levi recalled. He shared how Shoshana’s heart went out to the boy; she would frequently speak of his well-being and specifically asked her mother to add his name to her daily prayer list. The family credits her dedication with providing immense "relief and salvation" during a difficult time.

Her parents shared a poignant story that captures the essence of her character. On one occasion at the Jerusalem Central Bus Station, a beggar approached Shoshana for charity. Without hesitation, she gave him the last ten shekels in her possession, leaving herself with no money for the bus ride home to Hebron.

The tribute concludes with a call to learn from Shoshana. In a world where many suffer in silence or face unbearable struggles, she served as a model for developing an attentive, supportive, and loving heart.

The Strook family continues to be viewed by their neighbors as a source of inspiration for their refined character and nobility of spirit. May the memory of Shoshana Strook’s radiant soul be bound in the bond of life.
