She was the daughter of Rabbi Avraham and Orit Strook, figures well-known for their public service and dedication to the Jewish people. Her father, Avraham, is described as a modern successor to the biblical Abraham, characterized by a "good eye" and a generous spirit, while her mother, Orit, is noted for her tireless devotion to communal needs.

Her parents shared a poignant story that captures the essence of her character. On one occasion at the Jerusalem Central Bus Station, a beggar approached Shoshana for charity. Without hesitation, she gave him the last ten shekels in her possession, leaving herself with no money for the bus ride home to Hebron.
