First hostages to be released in Gaza deal revealed

Report: These are the hostages who will be released first in the deal

In Egypt, an urgent meeting was convened last night following a significant breakthrough in the negotiations for the hostage deal. For now, those expected to be released in the first phase are the women in captivity. This conflicts with previous reports that those released were to be the elderly or hostages in grave medical condition.

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reports this morning on another significant breakthrough in the negotiations for the hostage deal. According to the report, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held an urgent meeting yesterday with Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad, during which the details of the proposed deal were discussed, and both Israel and Hamas expressed willingness regarding it.

At the same time, it was reported last night on Kan News that those involved in the negotiations for the release of hostages believe that this time the chances of reaching an agreement are greater because the negotiations are being conducted by senior Hamas officials abroad, rather than those in the Gaza Strip.

According to sources, Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya wants to advance the deal together with most of the leadership abroad, which constitutes a more dominant factor in the negotiations than the Hamas leadership in Gaza. The one who manages Hamas in Gaza is Yahya Sinwar's brother, Mohammed, who also holds hawkish views.

It also emerges from the report that the group of hostages to be released in the first phase consists of the women who are in captivity, while in Israel, immense pressure is being exerted to secure a deal that will release everyone in one go. In Israel, they understand that for this to happen, Hamas will demand quite a few prices, and in Israel, they are examining their implications.
