Transportation Minister Miri Regev announced a series of "unprecedented" transportation projects today (Sunday) in the western Negev, especially in the war-torn Gaza Perimeter in the wake of October 7th.

The ministry's work will include rebuilding infrastructure destroyed or damaged by Hamas or by IDF activity in the area, alongside a significant upgrading of infrastructures which will ensure better connectivity between the Negev and cities in the region and in the center of the country. A special emphasis will be placed on the safety and security of roads connecting towns in the region.

The 2024-5 budget reportedly already aims at paving and expanding access and emergency roads, junctions, lighting, bike paths, as well as additional public transportation service.
