IDF’s new tactical Ark protects the Torah in combat
The Military Rabbinate unveils an innovative solution to shield sacred scrolls during military operations.

Over the past few months, in the shadow of the fighting in the various sectors, the Military Rabbinate has developed a number of revolutionary patents designed to help soldiers maintain their customs during combat.
One of the most significant developments created by the Military Rabbinate is the ark of a holy scroll for the Torah scroll, which in an instant also becomes a table for the book, "When it comes to transporting a Torah scroll, there must be an ark because of the humidity that damages the Torah scrolls", says the Chief of Staff of the Military Rabbinate, Col. Rabbi Shoham Orkabi.
According to him, "The crate that exists today is not convenient to carry and is not waterproof. Therefore, the reservists of the military rabbinate developed a carrier for a Torah scroll with harnesses on both sides. This carrier is very comfortable to carry, and you can take it on your back anywhere."

Col. Rabbi Orkabi adds, "The development protects the Torah scroll in all weather conditions, even from rain or dampness. The carrier can also be used as a reading table from the book itself, because it has legs at the bottom that are raised about 10 centimeters from the ground. This way there is no problem with a Torah scroll lying on the ground. Soldiers who want to pray in the field and read the Torah scroll can do so without causing the Torah to be disrespected."
