Amit Segal: United States seeks to eliminate public disputes with Israel
Between the possibility that Israel must agree to end the war for a Saudi deal and the claim that the US and Israel are on the same page, Amit Segal believes the truth is in the middle.

Veteran political commentator Amit Segal said on Channel 12 today (Monday) that he believes the United States is seeking to reduce and even eliminate public disputes between itself and Israel.
Segal said that there are currently two understandings of US-Israel relations as the Prime Minister and President are set to meet. One understanding says that Israel is boxed in, as in order to ensure a normalization deal with Saudi Arabia, the hostage deal will have to be seen through to the end - including an end to the war. Another understanding of relations between the two countries says that everything is alright.
Based on sources he spoke with, Segal said the truth is somewhere in the middle. There are differences of opinion between the Israeli and America government in both philosophy and policy, but the Americans are trying their best to minimize and even eliminate public differences of opinion with Israel.
According to Segal, people such as Steve Witkoff are trying to keep open both the possibility that the hostage deal will be seen through to the end, without closing off the possibility of Israel renewing the war. If Witkoff was unequivocal one way or another, Israel's coalition might come apart over the deal or Hamas might not release the remaining hostages for the first phase of the deal.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet with President Trump tomorrow afternoon, Eastern Time, where they will discuss the hostage deal and its terms. Netanyahu will also meet with Trump's National Security Adviser and Defense Secretary the following day, and will meet with the leaders of the Senate and the House on Wednesday and Thursday.
Last week, Prime Minister Netanyahu held a security consultation examining the possibility of restarting the war against Hamas. According to senior officials speaking with Israeli media, Netanyahu seems to be aiming in that direction.
