Trouble In The Big Apple?
New York Jews support AOC over Schumer
A new poll shows a near majority of New York Jews supporting the 35-year political radical over the man who was once known as the "Shomer" or guardian of American Jewry.

Democratic Jewish voters in the state of New York overwhelmingly support Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a hypothetical primary race, according to a poll published two days ago (Sunday) by Newsweek.
According to the report, "the Honan Strategy Group survey, conducted May 15-18 for the Jewish Voters Action Network, shows AOC leading 54 percent to 33 percent among likely Democratic voters in New York City."
Surprisingly, Jewish Democrats prefer Cortez over Schumer by 45 to 33, despite the latter's strongly anti-Israel politics as a member of the progressive "Squad" and Schumer's reputation as the "Shomer" or the guardian of the American Jewish community, a reputation which has since been tarnished in his inaction and even refusal to fight antisemitic activity among anti-Israel protestors on American campuses after October 7.
Any primary challenge to the Senate Minority Leader will not take place until 2028, a lifetime in American politics. But the poll does show increased dissatisfaction with Schumer as the party leader in the Senate.
