The family of Alon Ohel, an Israeli man still held in Gaza, has released one photo from a video published by Hamas on the eve of Rosh Hashanah. The full video remains prohibited by authorities.

Alon’s parents, Idit and Kobi Ohel, spoke about the image on Wednesday. Idit said: “On the eve of the holiday, we received a sign of life from Alon. We looked at every frame carefully, and the more we saw, the more concerned we became, those aren’t Alon’s eyes. He has lost sight in one eye, and we’re very worried about the other. His injuries have clearly worsened due to harsh captivity and inadequate care.”

Kobi added: “With the Prime Minister traveling to the U.S. on a critical mission, we hope he will return with news that the whole country has been waiting for. This is a moment for leadership and humanity to come together to secure Alon and all the hostages’ release.”

The family stressed that the video should not be shared, calling it “psychological terror” meant to harm them. Idit said: “As Yom Kippur approaches, what we ask is simple: return Alon, and bring all the hostages home safely.”

Ending their statement, the parents sent a personal message to their son, who has been held by Hamas for nearly two years after being kidnapped near the Gaza border. “Alon, be strong. We’ve seen your strength. Believe in yourself, the moment is almost here. The hug between us will happen soon. Stay strong, our son. We are with you.”
